There is never a charge for our sings. However, donations are accepted and used for maintenance of the sound equipment, up-keep of the grounds, and payment of utilities. Food service is available on grounds during each of the singing sessions.

The 29th Annual Colgate Country Showdown is designed to find the most promising country music talent in America and to give these performers a chance to launch their professional music careers. The Colgate Country Showdown begins each Spring with over 450 local talent contests sponsored by country music radio stations throughout the US. Winners advance to their respective State competitions held at leading fairs and expositions. Acts then compete for a $1,000 prize, the State Title and the opportunity to advance to one of five Regional Finals. It’s the last step before the prestigious National Final held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. The audience cheers on the Regional Winners, as they compete for the Grand Prize of $100,000 and the National Title. A uniform judging system is used at all levels of competition to ensure fairness.

Spend a special evening with that someone special while seeing West Virginia Mountains in the summer.
The South Side Depot is hosting a “ SummerTime In The Mountains Dinner Train” on Saturday, June 19th.
The unique train experience will provide a special evening in an area known as the 'HeartBeat' of the Potomac Highlands.
Passengers on the “SummerTime In The Mountains Dinner Train” will begin boarding at 5:30 pm at South Side Depot in Petersburg, West Virginia.
There will be plenty to see through the broad windows on the vintage passenger train cars of the South Branch Railway for the adults joining us.
Our guests will get a chance to view historic buildings, scenic rock formations and native wildlife such as the bald eagle.
The 2 ½ hour trip through the beautiful Potomac Highlands winding along the Potomac River will feature a catered prime rib dinner by Gourmet Delights of Petersburg”.

| World War II Living History Weekend |

Rowlesburg is getting ready again to receive W.W.II reenactors and period vehicle owners. They will be setting up camp on the field next to the community Park on Route 72.
On Saturday at 1:30 pm all WWII veterans are invited to stop by and reminisce with buddies in arms but also to give visitors and reenactors the opportunity to talk about your experiences. At 3 pm Bill & Linda Donegan from Charleston host a 1940s fashion show. The reenactment units will give demonstrations throughout the day on the field.
Sunday morning the Rowlesburg VFW offers their famous breakfast and at 1:30 pm there is a wreath laying ceremony at the honor roll with a 21 gun salute and taps by VFW members from Aurora and Terra Alta to close the weekend.
Come and see how our fathers and grandfathers lived while at war to protect our way of living. There is no admission fee to visit this event. The WWII museum located at the Szilagyi Center also deserves a visit. You can have a cup of coffee in the River City café, visit the B&O Bridge exhibit and the new Edgewater Emporium (antiques & collectables).
