WVU Wildlife and Fisheries Societies Annual Wild Game Dinner 4/10/10 to 4/10/10
Come and enjoy many delicious wild game dishes, raffles, and musical entertainment. Proceeds will support the West Virginia University chapters of The Wildlife Society and the American Fisheries Society. The dinner will feature a raffle for an Ameristep ground blind, silent auction, and multiple door prize items. There will be live music and various exhibits hosted by the WVU chapters of The Wildlife Society and American Fisheries Society.

Light the Night is a non-competitive evening walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. The walk is unique because participants carry illuminated balloons to light the way-red for supporters and white for cancer patients. There is not a registration fee for the walk but we do encourage everyone to try to raise $25 so that they can carry an illuminated balloon. Additional prizes are available at higher fundraising levels. All proceeds benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's research and patient financial aid programs. Participants can walk individually or form teams of family, friends and co-workers.

SPRING MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL 4/23/10 to 4/25/10
Spend a special weekend in The 'HeartBeat' of the Potomac Highlands during the 18th Annual Grant County Spring Mountain Festival, featuring plenty of music, crafts, a motorcycle show, 10k Run, Antique Car, Truck and Tractor Show, banjo and fiddle contests, basketball tournaments, parades, food and much much more at the city's Festival Park.

Kids of all ages will get answers to their animal questions during the Wild World of Animals Show on Saturday. This will be a great opportunity to get away and just have a weekend of fun as visitors will get a chance to see and experience the beautiful Potomac Highlands of West Virginia during the spring and see everything the region has to offer.
For Civil War buffs, the city's South Side Depot will be offering Civil War Train Rides on Saturday. The train rides will feature Civil War skits and stories about the local area., also, a cannon will be shot off as the train passes Welton Park.
And, thinking spring, festival vendors will help everyone get their garden started with a great variety of plants and flowers available from local growers.

Mid-Ohio Valley Ringers Spring Concert 4/25/10 to 4/25/10
The Mid-Ohio Valley Ringers, a community handbell ensemble, based in Vienna, WV, will present their 2010 Spring Concert on Sunday, April 25, 3:00 p.m. at the Village Chapel Presbyterian Church, Charleston. The concert, entitled “Favorites – Old and New”, will include a wide mixture of sacred, classical, original, and popular selections arranged specifically for handbells.

The ensemble prides itself in not only creating beautiful music, but in having fun and being able to share that fun with their audience. The choir was organized fifteen years ago by several of the current members and has performed before audiences in five different states. They currently host a minimum of three different concerts annually as well as perform in several other venues and performances. Members come from both Wood and Kanawha counties in West Virginia and Washington County in Ohio.

Selections for the Spring Concert will include A Mighty Fortress, I'm Just a Poor Wayfaring Stranger, My Home Among the Hills, an original composition written for the group – Fair River Rhapsody, and the 1968 hit – Classical Gas.
